Surfing lessons and safaris
Experience the thrill of surfing a wave by joining us for a surf lesson and we'll get you up and going in no time. Young and old can feel the ocean's energy under foot with guidance from instructors with over 40 years of combined wave riding experience, including over 3 years spent on the North Shore of Hawaii. Our operation is mobile and not restricted to specific venues etc. We can assure you that the best possible venue and conditions will be chosen in accordance with your requirements to progress. Our range of boards can allow for you to achieve success first up and then scale down in size as your confidence grows.
Surfing Lessons
Our primary location for beginners is the area to the left of Bird Rock (opp. Marine Hotel). Should conditions not be favorable we will move to other suitable spots at no extra charge. All lessons will have a maximum of 4 participants with 2 instructors, ensuring that there will be no more than 2 participants per instructor. For your first lesson we recommend a time period of at least 2 hours to lay a solid foundation. Cost is R60 per hour per person, should you be able to arrange a group of 4 for a 2 hour lesson, the organizer goes for free.
Surfing Safaris
Every year we schedule a certain amount of surf safaris with participants booking in advance until the maximum of 6 guys and/or gals is achieved ( min of 4 ). Should you have a group organized we can arrange additional trips customized if necessary. Please enquire via e-mail to info@dw-adventures.co.za regarding dates and costs.
Western Wild Coast Safari - 10 days
The search for uncrowded perfection awaits surfers with a reasonable level of experience on this safari that takes us to the best spots between PE and Port St Johns. Traveling with the west behind us, we'll follow the swell of fortune. At many spots we can expect our group to be the only ones being blessed with set after set of sizable swell, amidst the fantastic scenery that needs no introduction.
Eastern Garden Route Safari - 8 days
Starting off with world famous J-Bay and Cape St Francis, its front foot all the way as we tick off all the spots down to Stilbaai. We'll also beat the crowds with a few off the beaten track cutbacks. Depending on the wave charts, we may decide to save the best for last and push forward to greet the cold fronts that will shepherd us back.
Magical Mozambique Safari - 18 - 21 days
A once a year trip undertaken in June and July. We'll spend 4 days traveling there, allowing for time to surf on each day at selected spots. The main focus being on reaching our destination of Praia de Tofu, 500 km north of Maputo where we will spend at least 10 days surfing this exceptional right-hander in tropical paradise. Taking time to explore other possibilities in the area as well, it promises to be a trip of magical proportions.
These are all inclusive safaris that are undertaken in an air-conditioned VW Syncro ( 4x4 ), all refreshments and certain designated meals will be for your own account. POA.
