Introduction to Fly Fishing

Does it need an introduction! perhaps not, but I feel compelled to explain the attraction in the hope that it may inspire a new spirit to take up the long rod and experience the magical moments that you are opening yourself up to. He who allows time for success with a fly rod is undoubtedly entering into a everlasting passion that will cast a long line of natural treasures. For the memories themselves of fish tales will bring a smile as will the anticipation of your next encounter with our piscatorial friends.

Upon your arrival, nature suggests your choice of feather 'n fur, sometimes subtle, and other times beckoning you to join in the frenzy as dinner is served. Imitation is your fortune most of the time, no matter where you choose to wave your wand. Then as your quarry blesses you with its presence, be prepared, for now you must deliver the presentation. If accepted, the age-old battle begins and ends by whoever holds the upper hand in the prevailing circumstances. As you cradle the prize, thoughts of 'the hunter' and 'the prey' slide through your mind, although in many ways from that day on, the situation is somewhat reversed in a funny sort of way. With a smile you slip the life back into the depths, gleaming wider with every turn of its tail as it waves the memory into your mind. That was fun, lets do it again.

A truly great pastime, detailed and perplexingly entangled in many disciplines, but only as much as you allow yourself, for at the end of the day all you needed for that wonderful experience was a fly rod with reel and line, and the chosen feather 'n fur.
